Dr. Melanie Axford is a qualified educational psychologist working full time in private practice. She completed a BA degree in 2003. She continued her tertiary qualifications and completed a honour’s degree specializing in educational psychology during 2004. Following the completion of her honour’s degree she completed a master’s degree specializing in educational psychology. She completed her academic dissertation, internship year and successfully passed a board examination during 2007. In 2016 she was one of the first group of South African psychologists to successfully complete a five-year PhD degree in psychology that included not only a research thesis but also a range of workshops and written examinations, that specialized in therapeutic intervention. She is a member of PsySSA (Psychological Society of South Africa). She is registered as an Educational Psychologist with the Health Professions Council (HPC) of South Africa. She is also registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in the United Kingdom.

During her earlier years as an educational psychologist Dr. Melanie Axford provided therapeutic services to children residing at a place of safety. She continued to work at the University of Pretoria as a module coordinator whilst developing training courses for long distance education students. Moreover, she lectured pre-graduate and post-graduate students, not only at the University of Pretoria but also at Varsity College. She continues to provide guidance to post-graduate students during their internship year, completed at various primary and high schools situated in Pretoria. She writes articles for a range of magazines, presents short courses and conducts assessments at Denmar Psychiatric Hospital.
